I Am My Own Wife
By Doug Wright
Based on a true story, and inspired by interviews conducted by the playwright over several years, I AM MY OWN WIFE tells the fascinating tale of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a real-life German transgender woman who managed to survive both the Nazi onslaught and the repressive East German Communist regime, all while being herself. She owned a museum about the Gründerzeit period of Germany, and so the play is an homage to history, to collections, and to stories.
Join us Friday, June 16th, at First Congregational Church in Oshkosh, WI, for this fantastic retelling of her life and help lift up and celebrate LGBTQ+ voices and experiences from the past in this lovely pride month.
We invite you to stop by early before the show starts, as we have a museum showcase set up in the Fellowship Hall depicting history of FCC, of Rebel Alliance Theatre, of Germany, and of the LGBTQ+ community.
PLEASE NOTE: This production of I am My Own Wife is on a sliding scale for ticket prices. Tickets will also be available at the door, but are on a first-come, first-serve basis as we only have a small amount of seats available per performance. Buying tickets ahead of time is highly encouraged.
